About Us

Mission

From the Tzu Chi website:

"The goals for the Tzu Chi Collegiate Association (Tzu Ching) are to promote morals, strengthen character, instill a spirit of "great mercy even to strangers and great compassion for all," exemplify humility, respect and elegance in character, and become an example for all young people of the community.

The group works to improve campus environments everywhere by holding various school activities and spreading information regarding Tzu Chi. Through Tzu Chi activities, more and more students experience the Great Love of Tzu Chi endeavors and, in turn, themselves spread the same vitality throughout their schools. The Collegiate Association also promotes, develops and executes the four major Tzu Chi missions: charity, medicine, education and culture."

Description

OSU Tzu Ching is The Ohio State University's collegiate chapter of a larger foundation known as Buddhist Tzu Chi Compassion and Relief Foundation, or Tzu Chi in short.

We aim to promote Tzu Chi's missions of Charity, Medicine, Education, and Humanistic Culture on campus and in the Columbus, Ohio area through local activities within the community.

General Information

“Tzu Ching” means "youths with compassion and joyous giving." OSU Tzu Ching members abide by the Tzu Chi spirit of compassion. Tzu Chi missions include Charity, Medicine, Education and Culture. Our Principles are Kindness, Compassion, Joy and Giving; we implement these basic principles by helping the poor and educating the rich.

OSU Tzu Ching

OSU Tzu Ching members have participated in nursing home visits, visits to the center for mentally disabled persons, park cleanings, and charity events. OSU Tzu Ching also hosts an end-of-month book study group which also includes learning sign language. A welcome party for new Ohio State students is also held in September every year.

If you are interested in these Tzu Ching events, need help in your life, or want to come to the Columbus Tzu Chi Service Center to visit and converse with our Tzu Chi aunts and uncles, please do not hesitate! We will always welcome you here!
